World War 2: Pearl Harbor
Plans of Attack- January 1, 1941. Japan planned on bombing Pearl Harbor to weaken America's ability to send out aid to the allied nations. As seen in the picture there were a variety of plane routes and navigation's made to accomplish and execute the plan. These plans were instructed and created by Japanese Admiral, Isoroku Yamamoto.
Naval Fleet leaves home and heads for Hawaii November 26, 1941. The Naval fleet of Japan consisted of Aircraft's carrying High Level Bombers, Torpedo Planes and Dive Bombers. The plan was simple. But the results that followed were unexpected.
President Franklin Roosevelt sends out a peace appeal. December 6th 1941. In attempts make ensure the safety of America and to establish the truth that America in no way wanted to get involved in the war. President Roosevelt sent out a peace appeal to Japan stating that America wanted no involvement in the war but instead wanted to be left alone. The Japanese empire did not respond with words, but with actions.
Decode Message-December 6, 1941 — December 7, 1941. A Japanese message was decoded. A code was sent by the Japanese but it was tracked and at first partially decoded by America. The actions and the message were not clear. At first, America thought that Japan was going to attack somewhere in Southeast Asia. After a few follow up messages sent from the Japanese it was quite clear to America the meaning of the message and the intentions of Japan.
First Wave 6:00 AM December 7, 1941. With approximately 423 aircraft's invading, bombing and destroying Pearl Harbor. The first attack consisted of 183 aircraft that launches off of their carriers and headed to the Island in the Pacific Ocean. Two US Army personal discover the raid and alert the junior officer but it was disregarded because the officer believed and was expecting a Flying Fortress of BOe B-17. It was around this time that the Second Wave advanced.
Second Wave 7:15 AM December 7, 1941. Approximately 167 planes take off from their carriers to invade Pearl Harbor. Destroying important Harbor Facilities and auxiliary ships the Japanese head back to the carriers. Leaving over 2,400 people lifeless and over 1,178 injured. As the day continues, many more lives are lost due to injuries and the destruction of the USS Arizona. This attack was not going to go unnoticed by the American people or government.
Declaration of War Against Japan December 8, 1941. America declares war on Japan for the raid on Pearl Harbor. The actions of Japan lead to the inevitable. America needed to fight along the allies to keep the world from falling under German rule. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was that exact reason to send troops over seas and fight in World War 2. The United States joined with Britain declare war against Japan.
December 11, 1941 Germany and Italy forge allies with Japan and declare war against the United States. Germany wanted to conquer Europe and other continents but with America joining the war their efforts and minds became spectacle. Thus leading Germany to do the only reasonable course of actions: Declare war against America with Japan as its Allie.
Executive Order 9066 February 19, 1942. The actions of Pearl Harbor lead to this Order which is considered not one of Americas finest or brightest moments. The Executive Order 9066 issued that over 100,000 Japanese-American citizens to internment camps because of the events of Pearl Harbor. America thought that the some of the Japanese-Americans could be spies or associated with the Japanese Empire. To ensure that there were no spies or enemies on American soil, America forcefully put all Japanese descent Americans into internment camps.
